Can be taken internally as a tonic. The leaves eaten raw engender good blood, especially in those that have been lately sick. It’s a diuretic, promoting the activity of the kidneys, a demulcent, soothing raspy sore throats and an emollient. It is also used for fevers and pulmonary complaints. Can be used as a restorative for the adrenal cortex for people who are overworked, exhausted and burned out. The leaves stimulate production of milk in nursing mothers.
